"C'est le ton qui fait la musique", says the French proverb: music is made up of sounds. These are created by vibrations that propagate in the air in the form of waves. Just like the ring-shaped waves that are created when we throw a stone into the water.
Music consists of sounds, i.e. a multitude of sound waves produced by instruments (or voices). With the help of technology, these sound waves or analogue audio signals can now be converted into digital signals, stored, edited, mixed or processed with effects.
In this issue of Technoscope, we look at how technology inspires music, talk to two music experts and look at the effects that music can produce.
