Industrial Biotechnology Sessions 2026 – Swiss Biotech Day

The Swiss Biotech Day 2026 will take place on May 4–5, 2026, at the Congress Center in Basel.

The Industrial Biotechnology Sessions 2026 will focus on agrochemistry, soil valorization and fermenters, and their technical and financial implications for start-ups active in industrial biotechnology.

Industrial or white biotechnology, driven by sustainability, represents the next untapped sector within the economy. Emerging value chains and innovative production methods are creating new opportunities. To maintain its leadership in red biotechnology, Switzerland must leverage the synergies and expertise gained from its success in this field.

Background & Institutions

Founded in 1998, the Swiss Biotech Association is a key association and a central access point for biotechnology in Switzerland. Since 2013, the Swiss Biotech Day has evolved into a major international event showcasing Switzerland’s strengths in the biotech sector. In 2025, it attracted more than 3,000 participants from 49 countries.

Biotechnology plays a vital role in Switzerland’s modern economy. Relative to its size and population, the country ranks as a global leader in areas such as red biotechnology, including monoclonal antibodies and gene and cell therapies.

The SATW topical platform on biotechnology has defined industrial biotechnology as a core focus for the coming three years.

Since 2022, Swiss Biotech Association, together with SATW and Pheida AG has organized annual sessions dedicated to industrial biotechnology:

  • 2022: Sustainability across the pharmaceutical value chain
