The Industrial Biotechnology Sessions 2026 will focus on agrochemistry, soil valorization and fermenters, and their technical and financial implications for start-ups active in industrial biotechnology.
Industrial or white biotechnology, driven by sustainability, represents the next untapped sector within the economy. Emerging value chains and innovative production methods are creating new opportunities. To maintain its leadership in red biotechnology, Switzerland must leverage the synergies and expertise gained from its success in this field.

The Swiss Biotech Industrial Biotech Chapter (SIBC) fosters collaboration between industry participants, accelerates commercially relevant innovation, and promotes the industrial biotech industry in Switzerland to key stakeholders in Switzerland and among its international business partners.
Going forward, the Swiss Biotech Day will include at least two industrial biotech sessions (panels and pitching) every year.
Founded in 1998, the Swiss Biotech Association is a key association and a central access point for biotechnology in Switzerland. Since 2013, the Swiss Biotech Day has evolved into a major international event showcasing Switzerland’s strengths in the biotech sector. In 2025, it attracted more than 3,000 participants from 49 countries.
Biotechnology plays a vital role in Switzerland’s modern economy. Relative to its size and population, the country ranks as a global leader in areas such as red biotechnology, including monoclonal antibodies and gene and cell therapies.
The SATW topical platform on biotechnology has defined industrial biotechnology as a core focus for the coming three years.
