For example, the students were able to use 3D geodata of Switzerland to design new cities, learn how to use renewable energies for our planet and our future, use artificial intelligence consciously and intelligently and even discover alien atmospheres and new life in the cosmos.

Gianmarco Zenoni, Director of the Lugano 3 Cantonal High School, commented enthusiastically: "Thanks to the collaboration with the Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences, we are delighted to be able to offer our students and teachers a very special day that will open up new horizons and awaken new passions and curiosities. In a complex society like that of the 21st century, technical and scientific disciplines offer indispensable keys to understanding the world and tools for cultural immersion, which are an indispensable part of secondary school education. The TecDay that we will experience at Lugano 3 will certainly provide many of our students with valuable inspiration or confirmation for their choice of academic studies."

Manuela Ingletto-Panzeri, responsible for the promotion of young talent in Ticino at SATW, emphasises: "TecDay is an exceptional place to break down the barriers between technical and scientific subjects and to promote young people's awareness as citizens and consumers. We also try to promote vocations, especially among young women. In this context, there was an information stand about the next edition of the Swiss TecLadies mentoring programme, which will start in September 2026."

What particularly impressed the students

Some comments from enthusiastic students who took part in TecDay at Liceo di Lugano 3

  • "TecDay was excellently organised and I found almost all the activities interesting and well presented."
  • "The activities were very interesting. Especially the ones I took part in myself were very interactive, which made the experience even more enjoyable."
  • "I was impressed by the experiments in the classroom, the opportunity to interact with people who have studied at ETH or work at big companies like Swiss, and the variety of activities."
  • "I was impressed by certain professions that I didn't know existed and that are much more interesting than I could have imagined."

TecDay showed how important technical education and the promotion of STEM subjects are for the future. It showed that scientific topics not only impart knowledge, but can also arouse curiosity and enthusiasm if they are communicated interactively. In this way, the SATW is helping to motivate pupils to take up interesting new careers in technology and science.
