The Annual Report is here

What is happening in Switzerland's technology landscape, and what impact does this have on business and society? Panorama 2025/26 offers concise answers, taking a look at the topics that shaped our work in 2025, the experts we brought together, and the questions that will continue to drive us forward in 2026.

The world is changing faster than ever before. Technologies such as ChatGPT can now reach hundreds of millions of people within a matter of months — a pace that would have been unthinkable just a generation ago. Yet innovation rarely follows a straightforward path. Some developments take time, some return with renewed vigour, and some find their place in our everyday lives without attracting much attention.

Against this backdrop, the role of the Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences SATW remains as vital as ever: identifying new technologies at an early stage, evaluating their potential societal and economic impact, and inspiring the next generation to play an active role in shaping this change. The Panorama 2025/26 provides insights into our past year and previews upcoming activities. Below, we present a selection of highlights.

Three highlights

🚀 Technology Outlook 2025: Waste becomes a resource

In September, we presented our Technology Outlook 2025 at Givaudan in Kemptthal. This report demonstrates how Swiss research institutions and start-ups are transforming waste into valuable resources, thereby making sustainability a key economic factor. The study thus serves as a guide for anyone making strategic decisions at the intersection of technology and society.

👩‍🔬 Swiss TecLadies as an international role model

In September 2025, SATW presented its successful Swiss TecLadies programme at a G20 meeting in Pretoria, South Africa, as part of the official Swiss delegation. The mentoring programme inspires girls and women to take an interest in technology and the natural sciences, and it attracted international interest. This is a wonderful example of what Swiss support for young talent can achieve.
