SATW provides funding for innovative product ideas in the field of "Industrial Biotechnology" and supports their further development.

For the fourth time SATW is starting off an idea-finding process for experts from the sciences and industry. The so-called SATW Transferkolleg encourages the exchange of knowledge between universities and the industry and gives visibility to discoveries with market potential at an early stage. This year’s Transferkolleg is on the theme "Industrial Biotechnology“.

In the Transferkolleg ideally a university researcher and a product developer from the industry work together. Jointly they generate an idea for a new, marketable product and submit this to SATW by 31 July 2007. If necessary SATW can help with the finding of a suitable partner.

Project ideas that are accepted receive a grant of CHF 16,000. The project partners can use this grant to test the feasibility of their idea. In November 2007 the project partners take part in a two-day workshop. At this workshop they assess the future prospects of their project idea under the guidance of proven experts in innovation and work out suitable measures for its further development.
